On June 18th and 19th London's Lee Valley cycle circuit will host
SkateLondon.
SkateLondon will, for the first time, bring together Big Skate Europe, the
UK rounds of the IFSA Freestyle Slalom and Speed Slalom championship, and
the established London Inline Marathon. There will be other events alongside
these - see the website and/or sign up to the newsletter for updates. The
entire weekend is designed to be inclusive for everyone and to get you
participating and on your skates.
Big Skate Europe will offer skaters the chance to qualify as an
internationally recognised (IISA) skate instructor; existing instructors can
increase their level of qualification too. A series of other workshops for
all levels of skater (including basic skating skills, speed skating, slalom
and much more) will be run though out the weekend.
The IFSA Speed and Freestyle Slalom move to London for the first time. The
slalom scene in the UK keeps on growing, and the cream of home grown talent
will be taking on the best in the world. A must see spectacular.
The London Inline Marathon is a regular fixture in the speed skating
calendar, and is open to all. There will be a range of abilities, from new
skaters to experienced pro speedskaters - it's only twice the distance of an
average street skate after all. There is also an easy half marathon and a
mini-marathon for kids.
